‘American Pickers’ coming to film in Alabama

The History Channel series in which Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz explore houses, garages and basements to recycle and rescue forgotten relics is headed to Alabama in January and looking for leads throughout the state, specifically interesting characters with lots of interesting items.

They plan to film episodes of the hit series throughout the region.

“American Pickers” is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique ‘picking.’ The hit show follows Mike and Frank, two of the most skilled pickers in the business, searching not just for interesting antiques to buy, but for sizeable, unique collections and the interesting stories behind them to entertain their viewers.

They are on a mission to recycle and rescue forgotten relics – and make enough profit to cover their work. They want to meet characters with remarkable and exceptional items. The pair hopes to give historically significant objects a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way.

But Thomas X Carrera, lead casting producer for the series, said the collections have to be private.

“Please note that Mike and Frank only pick private collections, so no store, malls, flea markets, museums, auctions, businesses or anything open to the public,” he said.

If you or someone you know has a large, private collection or accumulation of antiques that the Pickers can spend the better part of the day looking through, send us your name, phone number, location and description of the collection with photos to: americanpickers@cineflix.com or call 855-old-rust.
