Former Heart singer Nancy Wilson joins ‘Muscle Shoals’ series as music producer

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Nancy Wilson, of Heart fame, has signed on for “Muscle Shoals,” the limited drama series that actor Johnny Depp is attached to.

Wilson will be the executive music producer for the series through her company Roadcase Productions.

Bettina Gilois is adapting the series from Rick Hall’s autobiography “The Man From Muscle Shoals: My Journey from Shame to Fame,” according to Deadline Hollywood.

Hall’s FAME Studios helped shape the sound of both soul music and rock and roll.  It was Alabama’s first successful professional recording studio, recording such hits as Wilson Pickett’s “Mustang Sally,” Aretha Franklin’s “I Never Loved a Man,” and Percy Sledge’s “When a Man Loves a Woman.” With the help of such other artists as Etta James, Otis Redding, Clarence Carter and Arthur Alexander, it gained worldwide fame for creating the “Muscle Shoals Sound.”
“Muscle Shoals,” which is still in development, is being created by Depp and Christie Dembrowski’s Infinitum Nihil, Richard Branson’s Virgin Produced, and Joshua D. Maurer and Alixandre Witlin’s City Entertainment.
